Eastport Strings Performance and Community Contra Dance

Eastport Strings, the youth strings ensemble constituent of the Eastport Arts Center, will be wrapping up their 8-week spring session with a recital and community contra dance on Saturday, May 31st, at 7pm. A short performance by Eastport Strings will be followed by a lively dance open to all, with Caller Alba Briggs from Lubec, with live music from The Schuth Faktori. No experience is necessary for the Contra Dance.

The performance will highlight Eastport Strings focus on dance and movement, and well as feature a wide range of experience and skill level with participants ranging from ages 4-18. Artistic Director Alice St. Clair has been partnering with dance and movement teacher Marit Wilson to develop a diverse curriculum that explores musicality beyond the confines of one specific instrument. Admission for the entire event is $10, and will serve as a fundraiser for Eastport Strings. The Eastport Arts Center is located at 36 Washington St. in Eastport.
