STATEWIDE, Maine — The To Serve and Protect fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at nearly 50 Circle K stores and Irving Oil dealer locations around the state.
Maine law enforcement personnel and Special Olympics Maine athletes will be pumping gas, washing windshields, and greeting customers in hopes of getting “tips” for Special Olympics. Athletes will be on hand wearing their medals and ribbons and are anxious to show them off.
In addition to Saturday’s event, more than 100 Circle K stores and several Irving Oil dealerships are selling 15th anniversary static clings for $1 each through Aug. 3. Irving Oil dealers will sell them through Aug. 5. All proceeds from clings sales will benefit Special Olympics.
Irving Oil also plans to make a monetary donation Saturday to Special Olympics.
The To Serve and Protect campaign with Irving Oil and Circle K has been taking place for 15 years, and has become one of the largest fundraising events for Special Olympics Maine. The event began in New Hampshire and soon became a New England-wide event.
