Charlotte Pease joins Maine Community Health Options

LEWISTON, Maine — Kevin Lewis, CEO of Maine Community Health Options (MCHO), recently announced that Charlotte Pease has joined the organization as manager, quality and accreditation.

MCHO is a nonprofit organization that will provide affordable health insurance to Maine people and small businesses beginning in January 2014. The enrollment start date for the plan is Oct. 1. Organized as a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP), MCHO’s mission is to provide high-quality benefits that promote health and wellbeing.

Prior to joining MCHO, Pease worked at the Maine Health Data Organization where she gained experience collecting and utilizing health care information to improve the lives of Maine citizens. She has worked in the health insurance industry for more than 20 years, including past professional management positions at Aetna and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine.

Pease has proficient actuarial skills and familiarity with compliance and regulations, in addition to product research, design and development expertise.

Pease earned her BA in sociology and her Master’s in applied mathematics from the University of Massachusetts. She is pursuing a Master’s in healthcare policy and management at the Muskie Institute at the University of Southern Maine.

Pease and her husband moved to Maine in 1984. They currently reside in Freeport with their cat.

Maine Community Health Options is a Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) created with the support of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. MCHO is a private, nonprofit entity governed by a customer-based Board of Directors, which gives members a strong voice in the policy direction and further development of the plan.
