Bobbie Allen has built more than 30 gardens along the Michaud Multi-purpose Trail in Millinocket. Now she is fundraising for Bobbie’s Gardens on the trail.
Bobbie’s Gardens has received a donation from Our Katahdin to purchase 50 feet of fencing for the area near the end of Ash Street to keep the snowmobilers and others off of the gardens, lawns and bushes. This past winter the fencing did not deter them, and much was damaged or destroyed. The cost would be over $1,800 to have the fence reinstalled. So far, they are in need of approximately $1,400 to complete the project. In addition, funds are needed to cover the costs of gas, oil, fertilizer and mower blades or else Bobbie pays out of pocket.
It takes a lot to maintain the two sections of the trail/walking/biking path, both physically and financially. Damage was also done on the Forest Avenue entrance gardens by snowmobilers, people spray paint tagging, and stolen game cameras.
Due to Bobbie’s health issues, a summer resident as taken over the mowing and heavy work of the gardens. Additional volunteers are needed for tree removal and debris pickup.
Any donation amount is greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to Bobbie Allen’s Gardens, 518 Central Street Millinocket. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact Bobbie Allen on Facebook for more information.
