Community Author: Bobbie Allen
Post Date:

Bobbie Allen has built more than 30 gardens since 2011 along the Michaud Multi-purpose Trail in Millinocket. The walking path with the gardens are located along Granite Street School to Ash Street and from Forest Ave to Stearns High School parking lot. Curtis Toms  a summer resident in Millinocket from Mississippi passed away in December after 2 summers as volunteer maintenance person. Now  with a new name for the gardens to honor him memory  Bobbie is raising funds for Bobbie Allen and Curtis Toms’ Gardens on the Michaud Trail .

Bobbie relies solely on donations for the maintenance and upkeep along with equipment and gas purchases . Broken bags of mulch has been donated  by an area company for a large project she is working on  the Forest Ave to Stearns section. Other donations include gas money from local businesses and  various private donations. She still needs to raise $1500 for equipment needed this year that includes blades, barings, and belt for mower deck, new battery powered blower, leaf sweeper attachment for lawn tractor, new tire for trailer to haul the equipment to the job sites. It takes a lot to maintain the two sections of the trail/walking/biking path, both physically and financially.

Volunteers are also a much needed commodity.  he Nazarene Church Adult and Teen Sunday School class has been helping with the weeding. Other organizations are welcome to volunteer and students needing their community service hours are also welcome. There are push mower jobs to be filled.  Any  amount of time  you can give as well as financial donations  is greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to Bobbie Allen, 518 Central Street Millinocket. Email or contact Bobbie  Ann Allen on Facebook for more information.
