BELFAST, Maine — The first Gayleen Marie Birthday Benefit Concert will be held 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept.13, at Waterfall Arts Fallout Shelter, 256 High St., Belfast.

CEDARS, which stands for  Creatively Envision Dying Amid Reassuring Surroundings, is a local non-profit 501(c)(3) that encourages mindful dying through education, personalized holistic care and eco-friendly living. Its Surrogate Family Residence program is the first of its kind in Maine and offers a unique end-of-life care model.

Gayleen Marie was an original board member and volunteer, and also the sister of Sonja Beal, one of CEDARS’ co-founders. Sonja provided end-of-life care and support for Gayleen in 2012. Their brother Andy, of the group soulshine, had long been wanting to help spotlight and support CEDARS, and this concert is the result.

This chem-free family-friendly evening of dancing features music from soulshine (Nashua, NH), HeartSong, Laura Campbell, and Women with Wings. We will also hold a 50/50 raffle, tell stories, and  enjoy great food and drinks.

Your donation of $10 at the door ($20 for families) will help CEDARS provide this vital service in Waldo County. All donations are tax-deductible according to the law.
