BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce has promoted two current employees as part of a reorganization of duties following the resignation of its executive vice president last week.

Kate Grover, the Chamber’s membership director for the past two years, has been named vice president of membership and marketing. In this role, Grover will have responsibility for growing the Chamber’s membership base and overseeing events and communications.

Martha Talbot, bookkeeper at the Chamber since 2010, has been named office manager. In her new role, Talbot will be responsible for bookkeeping, administrative support and the day-to-day operations of the Chamber’s offices.

“Kate and Martha have done an outstanding job,” said John Porter, CEO of the Chamber. “Their good work has a lot to do with our success in recent years at growing our Chamber and positively impacting the growth of the Bangor Region.”

Grover joined the Chamber in March 2012 and previously had sales and management roles with several Maine companies, including Cole Hann, U.S. Cellular and Verizon Wireless.

Talbot joined the Chamber in November, 2010. Prior to working in temporary administrative roles at three area firms that year, she kept the books and managed the office of her family’s business in Utah for 28 years.

Grover’s and Talbot’s promotions follow the resignation earlier this month of Karen Cole, the Chamber’s executive vice president who has been with the organization since April 2009. Cole is leaving to become Associate Director of the Collins Center for the Arts on the University of Maine campus in Orono.
