BANGOR, Maine — The American Folk Festival on the Bangor waterfront is partnering with the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau to bring the best of Maine breweries to the waterfront this summer. The festival will offer several Maine brews at the Railroad Stage Beer Tent throughout the 3-day event.
“Maine brewers are doing phenomenal work,” said Heather McCarthy, executive director of the American Folk Festival. “We have always been happy to support local offerings with the American Folk Festival, and it is abundantly clear that local beer is the next logical step. We’re excited about this addition to our beer tent and we are thrilled to be partnering with so many talented, skilled breweries in Maine.”
As a special offering, American Folk Festival Railroad Beer Tent will feature a sampler of four 4-ounce craft beer pours. For $8, patrons may purchase the sampler and choose whichever four brews on tap they wish. Four taps will be consistent through the weekend and will feature Black Bear Brewery’s Gearhead and Pale Ale, Geaghan Brother’s Refueler and Sea Dog Brewing Company’s special release American Folk Festive-Ale. Throughout the three day festival, two additional taps will rotate twelve different Maine craft beers, including the newly added Boothbay Brewing’s Flip Flop – a summer beer spiced with orange zest.
“The way we are setting this up gives us the opportunity to work with several breweries and give festival-goers the opportunity to sample a wide variety of Maine brews,” said McCarthy. “Locals can enjoy their favorites, and maybe people traveling here from away will discover something new. We think it’s a win-win for everyone.”
Other Maine craft breweries scheduled for the two rotating taps include Rising Tide Brewing Company, Funky Bow Beer Company, Friars Brewhouse and Banded Horn Brewing Company.
The American Folk Festival on the Bangor waterfront is scheduled for Aug. 22-24. It celebrates the roots, the richness and the variety of American culture through music, dance, traditional crafts, storytelling and food. The festival is supported entirely by public donations that make it possible to continue to present the Festival in our community.
