MADAWASKA, Maine — The New Year means new positions for Acadia Federal Credit Union employees Julie Hayes and Shawn Parker.

Julie Hayes, a loan officer at Acadia’s Madawaska branch, will be the new St. Agatha branch manager. Hayes is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine and had 16 years of experience in management positions prior to moving to the St. John Valley.  Hayes started as a teller with Acadia in June of 2010. In January of 2011, she was promoted to a loan officer position. When asked about her new role, Hayes replied, “Having lived in St. Agatha when we first moved to the St. John Valley, I am excited to work in that area.  It’s a wonderful community and I’m looking forward to working with everyone in the St. Agatha branch.” Hayes lives in Frenchville with her husband and four children. When not working at Acadia, she sings and plays keyboard in the Tennessee Haze band.

The Madawaska branch loan officer vacancy, left by Hayes’ departure, will be filled by Madawaska native Shawn Parker. Parker graduated from Madawaska High School in 2009 and from UMFK in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Business with concentrations in Finance and Financial Services.  Parker began working for Acadia in February 2011 as a teller. His talent and dedication have moved him forward to his new position as a loan officer for the Madawaska branch. “I’m anxious to begin a new chapter of my Acadia career in the town I grew up in.  It will be exciting to see familiar faces. I look forward to creating long term financial relationships with the community members.” Parker lives in Grand Isle and enjoys the great outdoor lifestyle the St. John Valley area has to offer. His personal interests include hunting, fishing, and playing hockey. David Desjardins, President/CEO of Acadia FCU said, “We are very fortunate to have someone with Julie’s experience and Shawn’s enthusiasm working for our organization. They represent the professional nature of our employees that always strive to provide top notch member service.”

Recent growth and expansion at Acadia FCU has created many opportunities for its current staff. The expertise and years of experience of its employees has created an organization with depth and expertise unsurpassed in the local financial services industry. Being able to accommodate this growth through internal promotions is cost effective for management and reassuring for members. “Our staff is not only highly trained in their fields, but many are cross-trained as well” said David Desjardins, President/CEO, “this allows for seamless transitions as we continue to grow.”

Acadia Federal Credit Union is a member owned financial institution with more than $121 million in assets, over 10,000 members and four branch offices in Fort Kent, Madawaska, St. Agatha, and St. Francis. Acadia FCU recently announced the opening of a full service branch in Ashland, Maine and an expansion of its commercial lending department in Fort Kent. In 2013, Acadia FCU celebrated 50 years of service to its members.
