On Tuesday, June 17 at 6:30pm in the Abbott Room of the Belfast Free Library, located at 106 High Street, there will be a free presentation with nutritionist John Bagnulo MPH, PhD, about how the foods we eat influence our brain health. This event is sponsored by the Belfast Free Library and the Belfast Co-op.

John will explain how our daily diet effects how we think and feel by influencing circulation, inflammation, nutrition, hydration, gut flora, and oxidative stress.

Numerous recently published studies indicate a relationship between depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders, and low diversity of intestinal microbes (known as “dysbiosis”). Furthermore, in trials with some foods, such as thyme and blueberries, researchers not only stopped the advancement of neuron loss, they were able to reverse prior neuron damage.

John Bagnulo holds a doctorate in Nutrition and Food Science, is a faculty member of Kripalu Healthy Living Programs and has a private practice at 39 Main St. in Belfast. For additional information about his work, visit: johnbagnulo.com.
