BUCKSPORT, Maine — The Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society  and The Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to bring some summer fun to the Bucksport Waterfront: “3rd Thursdays at the GAZEBO!”  Every third Thursday of the month starting July 18, a diverse lineup of musical acts will take the stage.  The Free performances start at 6:15 p.m. at the Gazebo, next to the town dock. Bring a chair and enjoy an evening beside the Penobscot River taking in the music and panoramic views.

July 18: Aurora Jazz Project
In its current configuration the Aurora Jazz Project is four cats who are equally at home in a small, intimate jazz club or in front of a roaring festival throng. Our manifesto is quite simple: to pay due homage to our roots in the jazz canon while at the same time taking the idea of jazz in some interesting new directions. We can swing like no one’s business, we can dial up some serious funk, and we can turn jazz classics on their head so many times that when the dust clears 15 minutes later it’s hard to tell where it all began.

Aug. 15: Maximum Blue
Maximum Blue is comprised of Max Silverstein, Jeff Silverstein, and Nancy Merrill. The trio offers a wide selection of bluegrass, swing, old-time and Celtic-style fiddle tunes.  Max is the centerpiece of the trio and plays an energetic and upbeat lead fiddle. Jeff on guitar, and Nancy on the upright bass, provide a steady, driving rhythm propelling Max’s fiery fiddle work. Max is one of Maine’s emerging young talents, and together Maximum Blue takes traditional fiddle music to new heights. They are a welcome addition to any event hosting lively traditional acoustic music.

Sept. 19: Galley Rats
The Galley Rats is composed of Colin Graebert – Fiddle/Vocals, Pat Sylvia – Guitar/Vocals, Caleb Sweet – Bass/Vocals is a Maine-based pub band specializing in Celtic/Canadian/Classic Rock music. “We are heavily inspired by Great Big Sea, Stan Rogers, and Gaelic Storm.”

Oct. 17: Nukulele
Nukulele iscomprised of Devin Ryan – Guitars, Drums, Bass, Travis Veilleux – Guitars, Trumpet, Vocals, Kedrick Carson – Bass, Trombone, Lead Vocals, Adam Carson – Drums, Vocals, Saxophone, Guitars plays music from Reggae to Metal, from funk to punk…and everything in between!  You may have caught their act on Danny Cashman’s Nite Show or around the Unity, ME music scene.
