2018 Volkswagen Jetta S generously donated by Darling’s Auto Group
BANGOR — The United Way of Eastern Maine and Darling’s Auto Group presented Marie Gallison of Corinna with a brand new car Monday morning, Feb. 12. Gallison was chosen randomly as the winner chosen from a pool of all donors of at least $5 per week to the United Way of Eastern Maine’s Annual Campaign during the campaign finale the week before.
Gallison was awarded with the 2018 Volkswagen Jetta S, generously donated by Darling’s Auto Group, at the Bangor dealership. Gallison works at the Charlotte White Center in Dover-Foxcroft providing overnight support for folks with cognitive and development disabilities. She has been a donor to United Way for nearly 10 years.
“The incentive prizes go a long way toward helping our annual campaign which this year will reach $1.87 million,” said Shirar Patterson, president and CEO of the United Way of Eastern Maine, in a press release. “The incredible generosity of Darling’s Auto Group to donate a car to this cause is simply amazing. This gift, along with those donated by Emera Maine, L.L. Bean, and Camden National Bank gives so many donors yet another reason to help their community.”
“It is our pleasure to give this car away for such a worthwhile cause,” said Gary Greene, sales manager at Darling’s Ford VW Audi in Bangor, in a press release. “The United Way does so much for this region thanks to the generosity of so many donors. Being able to help in this way is gratifying beyond words.”
Other prize winners were announced last week at the campaign finale. Rachel Bailey of Bangor Water District won $3,000 toward the purchase and installation of a heat pump from Emera Maine; Autumn King of Darlings won a $500 gift card from L.L. Bean; and Shirley Billings of EMMC won a $400 Visa gift card from Camden National Bank.
As part of the United Way of Eastern Maine’s annual campaign, large incentive prizes are awarded. Winners are drawn from pools of donors who meet certain criteria such as a minimum annual donation or an increase in year-over-year individual donations.
