Could this article get posted please? I would love to see someone come the day of the event and write a story! This is a wonderful nonprofit event that we put much work into and takes many volunteers to make this happen. Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions. Karen Dalot 897-2926.

16th Annual ATV Toy Run on September 29th, 2012

Rain or Shine

We are asking for your help and participation in an upcoming event. The Western ME ATV Club, Canton Trail Riders, the Mountain View ATV Club and the Brettun’s Wheelers ATV Club are sponsoring our 16th Annual Whistle Stop Trail ATV Toy Run on September 29, 2012. Registration will be from 8-9:45 at the end of the Whistle Stop Trail on the Town Farm Road in Farmington. The boys scouts will be selling donuts to of all our hungry riders and hot coffee for the chilly morning.

Last year we had 382 riders and 250 ATV’s and we were all completely amazed at the amount of generosity that has come from people all over the state. The ride will started in West Farmington at the end of the Whistle Stop Trail in Farmington at 10 am, where we will ride to Wilton and an officer will stop traffic to cross Route 4 and we will all regroup in the Jay Plaza parking area. A Jay officer then escorted us over the Memorial Bridge to the trail head leading to Canton. There we will leave our toys with volunteers from the CAP Agency. The ATV’s again will head in a single file into the woods to return to Jay. Last year when all lined up we had a string of ATV’s that was more than 3 ½ miles long! Onlookers stated it was an astonishing site to see. We continue on to the Jay Plaza where the boy scouts will serve our FREE barbeque meal (at approximately 2 pm).

Everyone who participates MUST get a meal ticket and register. Donations include gift certificates for local businesses, a helmet, picture portrait sitting, 2 night stay at Breezy Acres, free night at Bass Hill Bed-N-Breakfast, gun rack, interior and exterior vehicle cleaning, oil change, shirts, water bottles, sleeping bags, hair certificates and a toy tractor trailer with sounds. For the community we have raised over $50,000.00 consisting of toys and cash donations throughout the years. This will certainly help put smiles on many families faces during the holidays. Santa will also be making a special appearance! We could not have done this without the help of so many volunteers, businesses who contributed merchandise, vendors and of course all of our ATV riders who make this day so special. Each year we hope to get more participation from vendors. If you are interested in setting up a display booth please contact us!

We are expecting an even larger crowd this year and are a completely NONPROFIT event. We do this to show our landowners how much we appreciate their support in our sport. We are hoping that you will help us to promote our wonderful event and show your community that we care.
