The 10th Annual RIDE FOR LIFE benefits the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center and enables us to serve people and their families dealing with cancer in Washington and Hancock Counties. This year, there will be 8 mile or less, 20 mile, 50 mile, and 100 mile rides– so there is a ride for every bicycle riders’ ability level, and each ride has spectacular views of the Maine coast. Something new this year is the 8 MILES — OR LESS! We love little children, new cyclists and older cyclists and anyone who dares to get on a bike and MOVE! And this year, to honor all levels and abilities, we’d like to invite you to join our RIDE FOR LIFE and bike just as far as you’d like. This might mean 2,000 feet or maybe 5,280 feet or anything up to 8 miles and beyond. Do not let distance prevent participation! Everyone is welcome! With helmets, of course!
The RIDE FOR LIFE is becoming an event that riding enthusiasts look forward to. There are plenty of comfort stations, fruit, water, and other refreshments along each route. Each pre-registered rider receives a free t-shirt and free lobster roll, and there is live entertainment during the BBQ. All routes are well-marked, with signs at each turn, and our communications network allows us to keep track of all the riders out on the course. All rides are expected to be completed by 4:00 PM.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. The 100 mile race starts at 8 a.m., the 50 starts at 9 a.m., the 20 mile at 10 a.m. all at the Surry Elementary School. The 8 mile race begins at 10 a.m. at Newbury Neck Beach, where parking is available. BBQ and other activities start at 11 a.m. at the Surry Elementary School.
