BRUNSWICK, Maine — A 39-year-old Brunswick woman was charged Saturday with endangering the welfare of a minor after a single-vehicle crash that injured an unrestrained 5-year-old girl.
Police and rescue were called to Maquoit Road just after 7 p.m. Saturday after reports that a vehicle had crashed and rolled over, and then been righted by several people, Brunswick Police Cmdr. Thomas Garrepy said Monday.
Officers investigating the crash went to a nearby home and found the 5-year-old girl, who was unrestrained when the vehicle rolled. She was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment of head injuries, Garrepy said.
While police were at the residence, a 16-year-old male allegedly became combative and assaulted three police officers, leaving two with bumps and bruises and sending one to Mid Coast Hospital with a sprained wrist, according to Garrepy.
The juvenile was charged with three counts of assault and one count of resisting arrest and released to the custody of his parents.
