Ellsworth schools were closed Thursday Dec. 21 after the district received a threat to the high school, administrators said.
Administrators became aware of “a message indicating a possible threat” to Ellsworth High School on Wednesday night. As a precautionary measure, the department decided to cancel classes for the entire district, according to an announcement on the district’s website.
The district has notified the Ellsworth Police Department, which said Thursday morning that the threat was still under investigation. The district said it will provide more information when it becomes available.
