A dispatcher for the Gray office of the Department of Public Safety was arrested Wednesday on charges of allegedly soliciting explicit photos from underage girls on Twitter, state police said.

Eric Kramarz, 43, was arrested at his Auburn home Wednesday afternoon and charged with possession of child pornography, mostly involving girls around the age of 13, according to Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.

Kramarz worked for 16 years at the dispatch center in Gray, and has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure, he said.

The arrest stemmed from a tip received by the state police’s computer crimes unit, alleging Kramarz was chatting with underage girls around 13-years-old over Twitter, and received sexually explicit photos from some of them, McCausland said.

Police found no inappropriate material on the dispatch center computers, but have seized Kramarz’s cell phone.

Kramarz was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail Wednesday, but was released on $100 cash bail, according to booking. The date of his first court appearance was not immediately available.
