Ky Bowman and Jerome Robinson each scored a game-high 18 points to lead five players in double figures as Boston College opened its season with an 85-65 victory over the University of Maine in a mutual season opener at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hills, Mass., Friday night.
The Eagles outrebounded UMaine 51-32 and limited the Black Bears to 35.6 percent shooting from the floor en route to the victory.
Boston College led by just seven at the half but broke the game open with a 26-11 run early in the second half that transformed a 35-30 lead into a comfortable 61-41 advantage.
Bowman had six rebounds to accompany his 18 points and Robinson dished out four assists to complement his 18.
Deontae Hawkins contributed 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, Johncarlos Reyes chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds and Jordan Chatman had 11 points.
Ilija Stojiljkovic paced the Black Bears with 14 points and eight rebounds. Aaron Calixte had 12 points and three assists and Danny Evans scored 11 points. Andrew Fleming and Trae Bryant scored nine points apiece for UMaine.
Bryant also pulled down seven rebounds.
The Black Bears will head to Lubbock, Texas, for a Tuesday night game against Texas Tech.
