Stephen Paddock, the alleged culprit behind the deadly mass shooting at a country music festival, checked out sites in Boston and Chicago before turning loose his carnage on concertgoers in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Paddock actually booked a room in Chicago overlooking the Lollapalooza venue of Grant Park. Boston officials were told that Paddock researched hotels near Fenway Park, but few if any rooms have a clear view of the stands at the venerable park. Per NBC, police and Boston officials don’t think Paddock booked a room near Fenway.
Recently, Fenway hosted a number of big concerts including Lady Gaga and Billy Joel.
Boston police told NBC News on Thursday they were aware that Paddock had scouted out the city. City officials are working closely with federal authorities.
On Sunday, Paddock allegedly opened fire on a country music festival in Las Vegas, killing at least 58 concertgoers and wounding at least 500 others, in what has become the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history. Police say Paddock killed himself before officers stormed his perch in the Mandalay Bay hotel and casino.
