Portland police are looking for a local man they say has been missing for nearly a month.

Edward Blumenthal, 57, was last seen at his Preble Street address at around 5 p.m. on Sept. 9, according to a news release issued Wednesday afternoon by Portland police Lt. Robert Martin.

Blumenthal is known to like taking daily walks near his home, and does not have a car, Martin said. He has a cellphone, but it goes straight to voicemail, and he has not accessed his bank accounts since his disappearance, according to police.

Blumenthal’s parents, who live in Yarmouth, last saw him on Aug. 27, when his mother took him shopping, and family members say it’s unusual for him to not keep in regular contact, according to police.

He is described as a white male, standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with short, brown and gray hair and blue eyes.

Portland police are urging anyone who has seen Blumenthal to call the department at 207-874-8575.
