Avery Smith, 23, Hope.

Avery Smith, the 23-year-old man from Hope who has been missing for more than a week, has been found by police and reunited with his family.

Smith was located Tuesday evening “out of state” by law enforcement, according to a statement from Lt. Patrick Polky of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He was found to be in “good health.” Polky did not disclose where Smith was found.

He was not immediately available for comment.

He was initially reported missing by his family in Hope on Sept. 23. Hours later, Smith’s car was found abandoned near Kettle Cove in Cape Elizabeth.

The following Sunday, a couple reported to police that they saw Smith leisurely spending time with two friends on the southern Maine beach.
