Body of bicyclist found in Rockport

By Alex Acquisto, BDN Staff

Local police discovered the body of a man on Mt. Pleasant Road on Saturday in Rockport, who apparently crashed while riding a bicycle, according to a local media report.

The deceased man was discovered Saturday by a nearby resident, but the Camden Police Department did not announce the discovery until Tuesday, the Village Soup reported.

“It appears that the deceased failed to negotiate a sharp turn in the road on his bicycle and struck a tree head-on,” Randy Gagne, chief of police for Camden and other surrounding communities, told the Village Soup. “We are not sure at this point when the accident occurred.”

Police are still investigating the incident. They have not yet released the man’s identity.
