Two people died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Route 1 in Prospect.

Daniel Huntington, 39, of New Jersey and Sarah Brown, 37, of Monroe were among four people riding in a sedan that failed to negotiate a curve after driving west across the Penobscot Narrows Bridge shortly after 5 a.m., Sgt. Nicholas Oettinger of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday afternoon in a news release. Huntington and Brown both were dead when deputies arrived at the crt scene.

The two other people in the car were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where they are undergoing treatment for serious injuries, Oettinger said. They are Alexander Brown, 22, and Roger Brown, 45, both of Prospect.

It was not clear Saturday which of the four people involved in the crash was the driver.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, he said.

The fatal crash in Prospect was one of two in Waldo County Saturday morning, Oettinger said. The other crash, which happened in Frankfort, claimed the life of a 29-year-old man.
