Portland library hands out free glasses for watching the eclipse

With a solar eclipse anticipated in the United States in a month, NASA warns that not all solar eclipse viewing glasses are safe.

The Portland Public Library is helping to make it safer for Mainers to check out the upcoming solar eclipse by handing out free specialized eclipse sunglasses.

Library staff members said it’s a fun way for Mainers to enjoy the natural world.

The sunglasses can be picked up at any of the Portland Public Library locations in the city.
