A Florida man was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center on Sunday evening after his motorcycle struck and killed a goat on Pond Road in the Androscoggin County town of Wales.

Gregory Pierce, 69, of Mount Plymouth, Florida, was traveling north on Route 132, also known as Pond Road, on a 2006 black Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck a goat that ran into the road, Lt. Glenn Holt of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

The goat was killed in the crash, which occurred at about 6 p.m.

Pierce’s condition was not immediately available on Monday.

Holt said he was not sure how long Route 132 was closed for the crash.
