Storm winds forced an evacuation of the Down East Lobster Roll Festival at Thompson's Point in Portland on Saturday.

A line of strong, fast-moving thunderstorms across Maine and New Hampshire took down trees, electricity and events Saturday.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout the afternoon by the National Weather Service as crews responded to clear away trees, restore power and led to an evacuation at the Down East Lobster Roll Festival at Thompson’s Point in Portland, according to police.

In Waterboro, CBS 13’s Taylor Cairns found a rain and wind spout closed down most rides at the Old Home Festival.

More than 1,000 Central Maine Power customers lost power, mostly in Cumberland County.

The storms moved quickly, taking away Saturday’s humidity ahead of an expected beautiful summer day Sunday.
