BANGOR, Maine — An East Millinocket man who allegedly told police he had made methamphetamine at least 100 times over the past seven months was indicted Wednesday on one count each of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and violation of a condition of release.

Nicholas Champagne, 23, remained Wednesday night at the Penobscot County Jail unable to post $50,000 cash bail.

He was arrested Aug. 13 after local police allegedly found items used to make the drug in his apartment, according to a previously published report. Police went to the Main Street apartment to perform a bail check.

Champagne was out on bail in connection with a methamphetamine possession charge from an arrest in July, police said in August.

If convicted of aggravated trafficking, the most serious charge, Champagne faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
