GRAY, Maine — A weekend winter storm potentially could bring up to 6 inches of fresh snow throughout the state, according to the National Weather Service’s Gray forecast center.

Forecaster Tom Hawley said Friday coastal areas could see mixed precipitation, resulting in sleet or freezing rain.

Hawley said forecasters expect precipitation to start late Saturday afternoon and wrap up by early Sunday afternoon.

Another round of frigid air is expected behind the storm, with temperatures Monday and Tuesday not expected to get out of the teens.
