Maine State Prison inmate dies of natural causes

ROCKPORT, Maine — An inmate at Maine State Prison died of natural causes Sunday.

Steven Holloway, 51, of Cumberland County died of cancer, according to Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland. The state police and the medical examiner’s office were notified and investigated the death, as is policy of the Maine Department of Corrections and the attorney general’s office.

Holloway died at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Holloway served approximately 15 years of a 20-year prison term for manslaughter. He was sentenced in December 1999 and was scheduled to be released in October 2018.
