About 3,000 Aroostook County residents without power Friday morning

By Julia Bayly, BDN Staff

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — More than 2,700 central Aroostook County residents were without power for more than an hour Friday morning because of a downed transmission line, according to Emera Maine spokeswoman Susan Faloon.

The outage was reported just before 8:45 a.m and affected 2,729 Emera customers in Fort Fairfield, Ashland, Masardis, Portage, Westfield, Oxbow Plantation and surrounding areas. Utility crews and other technicians working to restore service were unable to determine what damaged the line, Faloon said.

All customers had power restored by 10 a.m., she said.

Emera Maine encourages customers to stay clear of downed power lines and trees in contact with power lines.

Customers may report outages or ask questions by calling Emera’s customer service center at 973-2020 or 855-363-7211.
