Tom Brady is not on the injury report, but the New England Patriots quarterback was not present for Thursday’s practice.
Earlier in the day, the Patriots re-signed quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson to the practice squad.
Brady is not on the injury report released Wednesday. An update to that report is not due until the end of the Patriots’ morning practice.
His backup, rookie second-round pick Jimmy Garoppolo, took the first-team snaps.
Brady missed a handful of midweek practices last season including one Thursday practice due to flu-like symptoms, but rebounded in plenty of time to play Sunday.
New England opens the regular season at 1 p.m. Sunday at Miami.
Bethel-Thompson, a third-year player out of Sacramento State, has been with Miami (2011), Minnesota (2012-2013) and San Francisco (2013). He was signed to the Patriots practice squad on Sept. 1, 2014. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder, was originally signed by San Francisco on July 28, 2011, as an undrafted rookie free agent.
In other roster moves, two players released by the Patriots during final roster cuts returned to the 53-man roster Thursday. Long-snapper Danny Aiken and linebacker Chris White were re-signed.
Aiken was released Aug. 30. An undrafted free agent in 2011, he signed with Buffalo but was released and joined the Patriots in September 2011. Aiken has handled all of the long snapping duties in 48 games and seven postseason games for New England.
White, 25, was released by the Patriots on Aug. 31. He is a veteran of three NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2011-12) and the Patriots (2013). Last season, White played in 16 games and finished with one tackle on defense and nine special teams tackles.
