Massachusetts boat, local Prius in Waterville collision

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

WATERVILLE, Maine — Two men escaped injury Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Kennedy Memorial Drive, police said.

Thomas Joyce, 53, of Massachusetts, was turning off the Interstate 95 southbound off-ramp when a trailer behind his pickup was struck by a Prius driven by Peter Redman, 70, of Waterville, Waterville police Sgt. Dan Goss said.

The sergeant said Redman’s Prius, which was headed toward Oakland, came through a red light and struck Joyce’s trailer, which was hauling a boat.

The crash was reported shortly after 10 a.m., according to Goss. Joyce’s pickup was not damaged while the Prius suffered significant damage.

Crews were at the scene for about 45 minutes, Goss said. Neither man required transport to the hospital and no charges are expected to be filed.
