Charlotte (Cyr) Nye

CORINNA – Charlotte C. Nye, 82, died peacefully on August 29, 2014 at Westgate Center for Rehabilitation and Alzheimer’s Care in Bangor. She was born May 16, 1932 in Exeter, a daughter of Lewis and Ann (Grindell) Cyr.

Charlotte graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, CT, Class of 1950, and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Practical Nursing from Kennebec Valley Technical College in Fairfield, class of 1989. Charlotte was employed at Sebasticook Valley Healthcare, Pittsfield and Sanfield Manor, Hartland before retiring in 1996. She was an active member of the Corinna United Methodist Church, Corinna Literary Club, Nurses’ Guild and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Charlotte is survived by three beloved children; Marcia Nye Boody and husband, Dwayne of Corinna, Stuart Nye and wife, Sandra of Uxbridge, MA, Mary Nye Sawyer and husband, Steven of Newport; three grandchildren; Jana Boody-Billings, husband, Hilary and daughter Camden of Yarmouth, Stephen and Scott Nye of Uxbridge, MA; a sister, Jane Freese McKenney and husband, Galen of Corinna; a brother, Dana Freese and wife, Alicia of Newport; sister-in-law, Julia Cyr of Corinna; and two special cousins; Ginny Dorman and Estelle Tapley. Charlotte cherished neighborhood friends, Marvin and Elaine Lister, as well as Nancy King and many other special friends. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Orlo “Junior” Nye on June 2, 2010, and two brothers; Charles Freese in 1967 and Michael Cyr in 2008.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Westgate Center for their tireless care and compassion that Charlotte received during the last three years.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6th, at the Corinna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terence McKinley officiating. Burial will be in the Corinna Center Cemetery. The family invites friends to gather for a luncheon at the American Legion Hall in Corinna directly after the service.
