Charlene Elaine (Stuart) Burns

OLD TOWN – Charlene Elaine Burns, 83, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 1, 2014 at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born July 23, 1931 in Bradley a daughter of Henry H. and Ethel V.(Lounsbury) Stuart.

Charlene retired from the University of Maine bookstore after 19 ½ years of service. She was a faithful and devoted member of the United Baptist Church of Old Town for 43 years. Her church family was very important to her and she developed a deep friendship with Associate Pastor Scott Benner and considered him an “adopted” son inviting him to many family functions. She enjoyed family gatherings and will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor and good-loving teasing. Summertime was Charlene’s favorite time of year; for many years, summer consisted of camping with her husband Bob at Pokumpus Lake. More recently, she enjoyed the summer trips she would take with her daughters, Kathy and Roxanne, to Bar Harbor for fresh Maine Lobster. She also enjoyed spending time with some of her very close friends Harriet Sucy, Jean Bond, Dennis and Charlotte Brown, Warren, Malcom and Evie Kidder, and Mrs. Vicki as well as many good friends and neighbors.

She is survived by four children, Alan Stormann Sr and his wife, Rhonda of Old Town, Kathy Comstock of Stillwater, Roxanne Tardiff of Milford, Robert Stormann and his wife, Pauline of Old Town; 9 grandchildren, Dino Eastman and his significant other, Charbeth Tiller, Heidi Gallant and her husband, Bart, Alan Stormann Jr. and his wife, Marabeth, Jon Eastman and his wife, Jen, Misty Crawford and her husband, Corey, Erin Jackson, Dale St. Pierre and his wife, Jen, Larry Stormann, and Kaci Stormann; great-grandchildren Cameron, Zachary and Lexi Crawford, Dane and Max Stormann, Logan and Ben Gallant, Michael and Ryan Eastman, Makaila Jackson, Austin Beal, and Preston St. Pierre; brother, Robert Lounsbury and his wife, Vina of Old Town and sister and best friend, Norma Rand of Veazie, and the father of her four children, Sammy Stormann; many nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Burns in 1999, her parents, brother, Preston Stuart and his wife, Jeannie, sister, Pauline (Stuart) Ghazaleh, and brother-in-law, Warren Rand.

A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at the United Baptist Church, Middle Street, Old Town, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Baptist Church, 86 Middle St., Old Town, ME 04468.
