Derek Anthony Fish

BUCKSPORT – Derek Anthony Fish, 24, passed away, Thursday August 28, 2014 from injuries sustained in a work accident. He was born in Bangor January 17, 1990, the son of Robert and Rosie (Stevens) Fish. Derek graduated from Bucksport high School in 2008. He was a three year varsity sports player excelling in basketball, baseball and as the quarterback of the high school football team, which he felt was part of his family. He was fortunate to be part of the state championship football team in 2004. During his senior year Derek was an all star player for the Big East Senior Basketball All Star Game. He also traveled to New Jersey with his Senior All Star Little League Team in 2003. Since graduation he had been active on the adult league softball and basketball teams. Derek lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives with his beautiful and devilish smile. His friends meant the world to him and he loved them all so much. Derek was known for his sense of humor and was always making people laugh. He loved the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics, along with his dog Marley.
Derek is survived by his parents, two brothers; Corey Fish and girlfriend Kara van Emmerik, Shawn Fish and wife Jessica one sister; Stephanie Allen and husband Destin, grandmothers; Clara Fish and Barbara Mushrall, aunts and uncles; Lee and Janet Stevens, Jeff Stevens, Pam and John Ellis Jr., Lorie Stevens and Matt Cyr, April and Ryan Beckwith, Richard and Connie Fish, Debbi and Steven Sheehan, Kelle and Mark Gray, Randy Fish, Danny Fish, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by grandfathers; Donald Fish, Richard Stevens and Max Mushrall.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Monday September 1, 2014 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday September 2, 2014 at Franklin Street United Methodist Church, Bucksport with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Derek’s memory may be made to Bucksport High School Boosters Club 102 Broadway Bucksport, ME 04416
