YORK, Maine — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said a mosquito pool in York tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis. The exact location isn’t being revealed.

This is the first positive test for EEE in Maine this year. In 2013, 26 mosquito pools tested positive, and several animals tested positive as well.

There never has been a positive human case of EEE in Maine, though a New Hampshire person is being treated at Maine Medical Center after contracting the illness last week.
