Kennebunk police find body of man who apparently shot himself outside station

By Staff, York County Coast Star

KENNEBUNK, Maine— Police are investigating an incident in which a man allegedly drove into the Kennebunk Police Department’s parking lot Thursday night, got out of his vehicle and shot himself.

Kennebunk Police Chief Bob MacKenzie said an officer arriving for his shift around 10 p.m. found the man dead outside his vehicle. MacKenzie said he appeared to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

He said the man was a local resident, 64, and that the department had no prior contact with him.

“It’s very sad,” MacKenzie said.
