BANGOR, Maine — Ryan Low, executive director of governmental and external affairs for the University of Maine System, will become the interim vice president for administration and finance at the University of Maine, it was announced Friday.
Low replaces Judy Ryan, who was appointed to the position last May to replace Janet Waldron. Ryan is retiring, according to a statement from the university.
Low will be paid $165,000 in his new position. He will keep several of his current responsibilities as a liaison between the system and the legislature. His current salary is $133,750.
John Lisnik, a former state legislator and assistant to the chancellor, will take on Low’s other responsibilities with the system office.
Low will serve a one-year term, ending Aug. 31, 2015, a statement sent out by UMaine on Friday said. A search will be conducted in the spring to fill the position on a permanent basis.
“Ryan is well-grounded in large enterprise and public finances, and has a solid understanding of the budget challenges at UMaine and the University of Maine System,” UMaine President Susan Hunter said. “He also has played an important role in Augusta, effectively working across the aisle to advocate for public higher education issues in Maine.”
