BREWER, Maine — Officials are investigating a fire at the Brewer Motor Inn that broke out early Friday morning.

Brewer police and fire personnel were dispatched to the Wilson Street motel about 12:30 a.m., according to Brewer Deputy Fire Chief Ralph Cammack.

The blaze started on the outside of the building on a stairwell, but Brewer police were able to contain it with fire extinguishers before firefighters arrived, Cammack said.

The deputy chief said no motel rooms were affected and nobody was hurt. Crews from Brewer and Bangor were at the scene for about an hour and a half. A woman at the front desk said business operations were normal Friday.

A cause has not been determined, but the state fire marshal’s office is investigating the incident, Cammack said.
