Single-car accident near Hackett Road in Winterport

WINTERPORT, Maine — A 42-year-old Brewer man was taken to a Bangor hospital Friday afternoon to be treated for injuries he suffered when the car he was driving rolled over and struck a house.

The man’s name is being withheld pending notification to family members, Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Moody said early Friday evening. Moody said the man’s injuries were not serious and said he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. on North Main Street, near the intersection of Hackett Road, when the northbound motorist crossed into the southbound lane and then drove into a ditch, causing his Ford Probe to roll over, Moody said.

The car struck a house, causing minor damage to the porch. The car, however, had significant damage, he said.

Moody said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
