FALMOUTH, Maine — A Falmouth lawyer was arrested at his home Wednesday morning and charged with possessing child pornography.
Lawrence Winger, 63, remained at Cumberland County Jail onWednesday morning after his arrest by the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
Winger was charged with possessing sexually explicit material of a child under the age of 12, according to a release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
According to McCausland, state police seized Winger’s computer earlier this month after receiving a tip that prompted an investigation. An initial review of the computer allegedly found dozens of images and videos of child pornography. McCausland said none of the victims are known to be from Maine.
Winger practices law in Portland.
He previously served as the attorney for the city of Westbrook.
In 2002, he represented Hannaford when a clerk at the Gardiner grocery store refused to sell alcohol to a disabled man because of his impaired speech.
