Man leads Portland police on high-speed chase

PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police said a domestic assault escalated Sunday after the suspect took off with the victim in his car and lead police on a high-speed chase.

It started Sunday morning near Woodford and Nevens streets. Police said the chase through Portland ended in Westbrook near Larrabee Road.

Portland police said the speeds reached “dangerous levels.”

Police are not releasing the suspect’s name, but said he is facing domestic assault and eluding police charges.

The victim was taken to the hospital.

The incident is under investigation.
