Nutcracker auditions

BANGOR — Bangor Ballet will hold auditions for parts in its production of The Nutcracker on Thursday, Aug. 28, in the fourth floor studio of Thomas School of Dance, 14 State St. Level 2 and 3 dancers with minimum two years experience will audition 4-5 p.m. Intermediate to advanced dancers will audition 5 -6:30 p.m. and girls should bring pointe shoes.

Dramatic Academy sessions

BANGOR — Penobscot Theatre Company recently unveiled its slate of dramatic education programs for the 2014-2015 school year. The roster includes youth classes, vacation camps, master classes for teens and adults, and a new young adult conservatory. Amy Roeder, who assumed her new role as the company’s director of education recently, will head the theater’s Dramatic Academy.

Roeder previously served among The Second City’s elite corps of improv artists and instructors, and brings experience as an actor, writer, director, voiceover artist, and award-winning teacher.

Roeder has penned an original script for “Frankenstein,” the first of three youth productions planned for the upcoming school year for preschoolers through eighth-grade students.

The fall session will run Sept. 16 through Oct. 30, with performances Oct. 31 through Nov. 2

The winter session, culminating with “Holes” by Louis Sacher, will run Jan. 6 through March 5, with performances Feb. 6-8.

The spring session, centered around “James and the Giant Peach,” adapted from the book by Roald Dahl, will run from March 24 through May 28, with performances May 29-31.
