ROCKLAND, Maine — Police from several communities were looking for the driver of a car that crashed Saturday afternoon.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Old County Road between the Rockland Golf Club and Route 17. A witness reported a male wearing a red-and-white striped referee-type shirt and white shorts fleeing after the vehicle crashed into a patch of small trees.

The car was a white Subaru Outback with Maine license plates “ORTIZ.”

Rockland emergency medical services responded with a fire truck and ambulance but left when no one was found. Rockport police were patrolling the area in an effort to locate the driver.
