Ronald F. Clukey

RIPLEY – Ronald F. Clukey, 81, died August 22, 2014, at a Boston hospital, following a period of ill health. Ronald was born in Sangerville on August 16, 1933, the son of Bernard and Phyllis Clukey.

He was a communicant of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Dexter, President of the Dexter Sunrise Kiwanis in 1988-1989, and was a former 4th Degree Grand Knight in the Dexter Knights of Columbus.

He owned the Gulf station in Monson for many years before moving to Dexter where he worked at Tempesta’s Garage. He started teaching school and was encouraged to get a degree. He received a B.S. in 1993 from the University of Maine and eventually got his Master’s Degree. He taught school in Dexter and Guilford and was instrumental in keeping many students in school when they would otherwise have dropped out. He coached basketball for many years with his good friend, Edward Guiski. He worked summers with Bud Ellms, and Bud was instrumental in getting him moved to Ripley Pond where he and his wife Doris spent many years. They also enjoyed spending many winters in Florida. He was also a very active member of the Duster’s Antique Auto Club. He restored a 1950 Chrysler and owned a 1928 Model A that he loved to take on rides. He was a very devoted caregiver to Doris when she was suffering from Alzheimer’s. His love for his family was unsurpassed.

He is survived by his son Stuart and his wife, Jackie Clukey of Milford; and a daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Steve Burton of Ripley; he was Bampi to granddaughter, Tricia Cesena and her husband, Dominic and their children, Taylor-Jo, Kyleigh, and Jonas, granddaughter, Erin Burton and her children, Madison, Aiden, and Rayna of Ripley; a special sister-in-law, Marion Stanchfield of Bingham; many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to mention his good friends, Lionel Getchell and Ronald Sinclair of Ripley.

He was predeceased by his wife, Doris; his parents; and three brothers, Bernard, Robert, and Herman Jr.

A graveside memorial service will take place 11 A.M., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Ferndale Cemetery in Ripley. Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
