OLD TOWN — The Old Town Recreation Center is launching the Eastern Maine Fall Baseball League, open to kids ages 8-11 (Little League eligible). The EMFBL will be kid pitch and will feature a 14-game regular season, beginning Aug. 24. The league will include playoffs. ROCKLAND — Annual Greater Gator Open, Saturday, Sept. 6, Rockland Golf Club, to benefit Bob Gagnon Cancer Fund, which provides gas certificates to those cancer patients that need a little financial help to travel for their radiation treatments. Four-person scramble with shotgun start at 1 p.m. Early entry fee $100, which includes round of golf, Gator cap, lobster dinner and team photo. HAMPDEN — The Hampden Kiwanis Club will hold its annual Golf Tournament, a best-ball foursome, at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Hampden Country Club on Western Avenue. Proceeds benefit the Eleanor Widener Dixon Memorial Clinic in Gouldsboro, an out-patient department of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Thereafter, regular-priced adult admittance is $20. The registration fee for children, age 2-11, is $5. BANGOR, PORTLAND — Registration open for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K events, for runners and walkers, will be held in Portland on Sunday, Sept. 14 and in Bangor on Sunday, Sept. 21. The money raised through the two annual Race for the Cure events will support the fight against breast cancer. The Portland race, starting in Payson Park, will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. The Bangor race begins from the Bangor Waterfront where registration will also begin at 7:30 a.m. Each event will include a 9 a.m. survivor ceremony to recognize the women who have fought or are fighting breast cancer. PREQUE ISLE — The third annual REDY… Set… Let’s Go! Youth Triathlon will be held Sept. 7 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Participants between the ages of 7 and 10 will swim 50 yards, bike 2 miles and run one half-mile. Participants between the ages of 11 and 14 will swim 100 yards, bike 2.5 miles and run 1 mile.
