Jacquelyn Allan Hill

GORHAM – Jacquelyn Allan Hill of Gorham died August 18, 2014, the only child of Philip and Marilla Hill who predeceased her. Jackie graduated from Gorham High School, continuing to the University of Maine Orono where she earned a B.A. and an M.A. in Education, and a C.A.S. (Certificate of Advanced Study).
Jackie taught in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and for many years at Old Town High School, where she was the English Chair. After retirement, she founded Club Purr, a popular cat only boarding facility, which she operated for 20 years. Her first love was animals, especially unwanted or difficult to place cats, which she took into her home on many occasions.
An enthusiastic traveler, Jackie’s favorite city was Paris, which she visited countless times, sharing her joy of the city with others whom she took with her.
She is survived by an aunt and uncle, John and Shirley Alden of Gorham, several cousins, and numerous close friends.
A voracious reader, Jackie requested that donations in her memory be sent to Baxter Memorial Library, 71 South St., Gorham, ME 04038 and that the money be used to purchase children’s books about animals. At her request, there are no services.
Arrangements are by the Dolby and Dorr Funeral Chapel. For online condolences, please visit www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com
