Body of missing Portland man found in Presumpscot River

By CBS 13

PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police said they’ve recovered the body of a man missing since Friday night.

Robert Koch, 52, was found Tuesday in the Presumpscot River just after 1 p.m. Portland police said a golfer and manager from Riverside Golf Club spotted his body in the water near the golf course.

Family members told CBS 13 News Koch left his Riverside home after talking about going to the Riverton Trolley Park near Forest Avenue and Riverside Street.

“It’s very disheartening to have this kind of outcome for a family,” Portland police said during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “The family themselves had spent a lot of time searching for him. They were on scene with us. At some point we asked them, you know, it would be better for them to go home and wait for us to call them.”

Police said they are now waiting for autopsy results, but Koch’s death does not appear to be suspicious at this point.
