Somerset County deputies seek public’s help in assault investigation

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

CORNVILLE, Maine — Somerset County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an assault that reportedly took place last week on East Ridge Road.

According to Chief Deputy Dale Lancaster, a car with three male occupants forced a woman’s car to the side of the road on Aug. 13, and the woman was physical assaulted.

Lancaster said the assault was not sexual in nature.

Neither vehicle was damaged in the incident, Lancaster said.

Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in the case. Anyone who saw any vehicles parked on the side of the road on East Ridge Road between Bowman and Moody Town Roads, from 7:30 a.m.-noon, should contact the sheriff’s office at 800-452-1933 and ask for Detective Jeremy Leal.

The department’s tip line can be accessed by calling 474-0230.
