Videos of people dumping ice water over their heads have taken over social media. Now, employees at the Bangor Daily News are taking on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The fundraiser brings awareness to the ALS Association, which has generated $4 million between July 29 and Aug. 12, compared to $1.1 million during the same period last year. Matt Stone and Erin Rhoda of the Bangor Daily News editorial board accepted the challenge after Stone’s brother, Andy Stone, put them up to it during a Facebook small business event in Collinsville, Illinois. They challenged editorial intern Christopher Burns and editorial cartoonist George Danby to follow their lead, making a charitable contribution and getting drenched with ice water.
