EAST MACHIAS – Reggie Hicks, Sr., 69, lost his courageous battle with cancer on August 11, 2014 surrounded by those that truly loved and admired him. He was born in Machias on August 19, 1944, the son of Emma (Hooper) Cunningham and Richard E. Hicks.

Reggie was born and raised in Kennebec with many family members nearby. His grandparents Inez and Cardy Hooper were very dear to him and had a hand in raising him. As soon as he turned 18 years old, he proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne during the Vietnam Era. Over the next 50 years, his careers consisted of doing things he truly loved, being on the water and driving tractor trailer trucks. He was a commercial fisherman and

drove all over the country as a professional driver. He was a man of many talents as playing guitar and singing are family traits. He was an amazing mechanic and able to fix just about anything. As he would say he was a jack of all trades and master of none. He enjoyed life and people enjoyed theirs more with him in it. His quick wit and unmatched humor will be greatly missed by all.

Reggie is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Joanne (Calder) Hicks and their two sons, Reggie Jr. and his wife Marge, and Jason Hicks and his fiancé Nichole Wood; his children John Ohmeis and wife, Carolle; Chrystal Hachey and her husband John; James Hicks and his wife Angelica; Regema Condon; Aprile Scannell and Elizabeth Hicks. He is also survived by his mother, Emma Cunningham, 26 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, cousins and close friends.

Reggie loved all of his grandchildren and he had a very special bond with Russell and Jessica.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard Hicks; a sister Carolyn; a brother Wayne; a daughter Darlene; and a grandson, Paul.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Machias Christian Fellowship on the Kennebec Rd. Machias, Maine. Immediately followed by celebration of life at the Jonesboro Elementary School in Jonesboro, Maine.
